This paper will explore the life and career of Serena Williams, one of the most successful athletes in history.

Serena Jameka Williams was born on September 26, 1981, in Saginaw, Michigan to Oracene Price and Richard Williams. She has four sisters: Venus, Isha, Lyndrea, and Yetunde. Raised in Compton, California, Williams began playing tennis at age three. In 1995, at the age of 14, she turned professional.

Williams has won 23 Grand Slam singles titles, which is more than any other active female player. She has also won 14 Grand Slam doubles titles, with her sister Venus. In 2002 and 2003, she held all 4 Grand Slam singles titles simultaneously (a “Serena Slam”), and is one of only three women to have done so in history. Williams has won more prize money than any other female tennis player in history.

In addition to her accomplishments on the court, Williams is also an outspoken advocate for social justice and gender equality. She has spoken out against racism and sexism in tennis and society at large. In 2016, she was named one of TIME magazine’s “100 Most Influential People.”

Serena William has been involved in a number of high-profile relationships, including with rapper Drake and tennis player Patrick Mouratoglou. She is currently married to Alexis Ohanian, co-founder of Reddit. The couple have a daughter, Olympia, born in September 2017.
