May 18, 2022

This essay argues about The Debate over Immigration in the US on whether immigration should be restricted.

The debate over immigration in the United States is one that has been ongoing for many years. The question at hand is whether or not immigration should be restricted in order to protect American jobs and way of life. Those who are in favour of restricting immigration argue that immigrants take jobs away from Americans and lower wages. They also claim that immigrants are a burden on taxpayers as they use government services but do not contribute to them.

Should immigration be restricted?

Experts say no

On the other side of the debate are those who argue that immigrants actually help the economy by providing a cheap source of labour. They also claim that immigrants contribute to the United States in many other ways, such as through their culture and their work in essential industries.

So, what is the answer? Should immigration be restricted or not?

The answer, according to experts, is no. Immigration should not be restricted because it actually benefits the United States economy. Immigrants provide a cheap source of labour, which keeps costs down for businesses. They also consume goods and services, which creates demand and helps to grow the economy. Additionally, immigrants contribute to the United States in many other ways, such as through their culture and their work in essential industries.

This creates demand and businesses need to hire more workers to meet this demand.

So, not only do immigrants not take American jobs, but they actually help to create them.

Immigrants are not a burden on taxpayers

Another common argument against immigration is that immigrants are a burden on taxpayers because they use government services but do not contribute to them. However, this is also not true. A study by the National Academy of Sciences found that immigrants actually contribute more in taxes than they receive in benefits. The reason for this is that immigrants tend to be young and healthy, so they don’t use many government services. Additionally, most immigrants are in the workforce, so they pay taxes just like everyone else.

In conclusion, the debate over immigration is one that is unlikely to be resolved anytime soon. However, what we do know is that immigration actually benefits the United States economy. Immigrants provide a cheap source of labor, which helps to keep costs down for businesses. They also consume goods and services, which creates demand and helps to grow the economy. Additionally, immigrants contribute to the United States in
